Why does this matter?
We observe the Lord’s Supper every 4-6 weeks at Scots. It is a wonderful way to celebrate all that we have in Christ. Having the things we eat and drink prepared and set up well means we won’t be unnecessarily distracted from what the Lord’s Supper is about.
Supplies
Someone on the Friday setup team usually purchases crackers and juice and leaves them in the office (grape juice, rice crackers & hand sanitiser).
Before Church – 10am
- Set up 3 bar tables downstairs (one each at the head of each aisle) and 2 bar tables upstairs (positions TBC). They should be at stage left of the lower stage, but they could be anywhere in the auditorium or side rooms!
- One packet of crackers, one tray of juice glasses, and one bottle of hand sanitiser per table.
- Get the glasses and trays from the back room cupboard (the amp room) and use the syringe to put the juice into the glasses.
- Setup for 150 people.
- Aim to be all set up by 10.15am.
Once church starts
- Unless asked to help, you do not need to assist with the distribution of the elements.
- If we get larger-than-expected numbers, the Platform Coordinator or Service Leader might ask for your assistance at the last minute. If we are slightly over, you might be asked to put out the extra packet of crackers, and couples/families will be asked to share a cup. If there is time, you might be asked to pour more cups.
After Church
At the end of church, collect the used cups and put them into their trays. Liaise with the morning tea team. If you ask nicely, they might wash the cups. Otherwise, it’s your responsibility to do one run through the dishwasher.
