High School Ministry Job Description

Why does this matter?

Most Christians look back on their adolescence as the time when they made a decision to follow Jesus for themselves. It is therefore critical that we disciple our young adults well.

Our ultimate purpose is for the young adults we disciple to be holy and blameless on the day of Christ by understanding the gospel and discovering how it speaks to their whole life.

Those involved in mentoring ought to be mature Christians, willing to love and be real-life examples of what it means to follow Jesus. Everyone serving in this ministry must comply with the requirements of our Child Protection Policy.

What is involved?

The group currently meets fortnightly at the same time as the main Sunday gathering (10:30-11:45am).  This allows leaders and high schoolers to sit in church, hear the Bible Talk and particulate in the main gathering on other weeks.

There is a team of leaders (currently two male and two female) who share the group’s face-to-face responsibilities. Usually one male and one female run the group each time it meets. Male and female leaders alternate in facilitating the study. Rostering is in Elvanto. This means leaders (on average) step out of church to be involved in the group one week in four, and facilitate the study one week in eight.

The leadership group meets regularly (at least once a term with the High School Ministry Coordinator to pray and plan. Study material is chose in consultation with the High School Ministry Coordinator.
