We're launching a one-off COVID-19 Appeal to help support future ministry at Scots Church. We'd love you to read more below and consider giving towards this appeal.
Why do we give to ministry work?
1. God Gave First
We worship a generous God. The most famous verse in the Bible says that ‘God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son (Jn 3:16). We give because God first gave to us.
2. To Worship God
Jesus warned that it is impossible to serve both God and money (Matt 6:24). One of the ways we demonstrate the fact that we worship God and not our money is by giving it away.
3. To Be Enriched
Paul told the Ephesians elders, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive’ (Acts 20:35). The act of giving is spiritually enriching.
4. To Multiply Ministry
Paul told Timothy, ‘the elders who direct the affairs of the church well are worthy of double honour, especially those who labour in preaching and teaching’ (1 Tim 5:17). By financially supporting gospel work, we can free up more people to multiply ministry and grow God’s Kingdom.
As you consider giving to this COVID-19 Appeal, here’s a few thoughts about our giving:
- It is often easy to forget that it takes finances to make disciples.
- Few people get excited about covering the cost of rent, electricity bills, staff wages or office supplies. But they are the backbone to help us reach more people with the gospel.
- God has already used the generosity of our members to grow his kingdom. People have come to faith in Christ and many others have been grown in him.
- When we give, the most important thing is our heart before God – we want our giving to be fuelled by our hearts that are so thankful to God. We don’t want to be giving under compulsion, or because you think it’s the right thing to do
Our 2021 Budget
What does this mean for us?
We’re currently looking at a budget deficit of $20-50k (based on if and when new hires for our building begin) which will hamper our efforts for longer term growth in ministry if we don’t fix it.
We have an opportunity to act early in the year to help ensure the budget gap is not so large this year, and enable us to keep growing to support future ministry at Scots Church.
Please pray and consider a one-off financial gift to Scots Church outside of your regular giving to help support our ministry at Scots. We’d love for you to give as you are able, but if possible, before May 2021. Giving details are listed on this page to help.
